Gov't official on automobile imports

In the near future the Russian government will adopt a final decision on unifying payments for car imports by individuals and legal entities, Andrey Kushnerenko, the head of the tariff department of the Economy Ministry, declared in Moscow today. According to him, some 130,000 foreign cars were brought to Russia by legal entities and about 500,000 cars by individuals in 2002. The customs procedure for individuals is simpler than for legal entities. The unification of the procedures will eliminate the misbalance in the structure of car imports, he specified.
