AvtoVAZ could manufacture Opel Astra T3000

AvtoVAZ and General Motors have reached a principled agreement on organizing the production of Opel Astra T3000 automobiles at production facilities of the joint venture GM-AvtoVAZ, Vladimir Kadannikov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AvtoVAZ, has declared at a press conference in Moscow today. According to him, this is a long-term project and the assembly of this model will not start this year.

In their turn, representatives of General Motors have refused to comment on this agreement.

As reported earlier, the joint venture GM-AvtoVAZ in Tolyatti produces Chevrolet-Niva off-road cars. Last year some 456 cars were manufactured. This year the company is planning to produce 35,000 SUVs.
