Central Heating to Be Turned Off Early in Saransk due to Debts

Central heating in Saransk will be turned off ahead of schedule due to Saranskteplotrans' debts to Mordovenergo. This decision was taken by the management of the energy company on Friday, March 14.

As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by Mordovenergo's press secretary Larisa Horina, there are plans to reduce the supply of hot water to the city's 'dormitory' districts and also to the city centre. Energy company Mordovenergo does not supply the local population directly. The intermediary between the city utilities and the energy company is Saranskteplotrans, which currently owes Mordovenergo USD 823 thousand. This is the reason why the energy supply to the city is being cut off. If the debt is not repaid by March 17 then the central heating in Saransk will be turned off ahead of schedule.

'Such stringent measures have not been taken for a long time,' said Ms Horina.
