Experts from the EU's Tacis programme have given a presentation in the Nenets Autonomous District of a scheme for establishing an information system for monitoring the environment. The system is to be a joint project between the Nenets Autonomous District, the Russian Energy Ministry, and the Komi Republic. According to the district administration's press office, Finnish experts on geo-information technology visited the region as part of the Tacis project on 'Regulating the development of energy resources and protecting the environment in the Timan-Pechora province.'
The project is planned to conclude its work in April. One of its aims in the Nenets District is to supply specialist equipment worth EUR 100 thousand. A concluding seminar for all the project's participants, at which the results of its work will be presented, will be held in Moscow in the middle of April.
The delegation held talks with Ruslan Bolshakov, the manager of the Nenets Informational-Analytical Centre. According to the agreement reached, a seminar will be held for the centre's experts at the beginning of April. The seminar will be on using geo-informational software products in environmental protection.
