The US international trade commission has voted in favour of imposing antidumping duties on the import of Russian silicon metals. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, the commission has decided that the import of Russian silicon metals is having a detrimental effect on domestic production. The trade commission is intending to appeal to the US trade ministry to impose duties at a level corresponding to the dumping margin between domestic and export prices for silicon metals in Russia.
According to the press office of the US department of state, the value of silicon metals imported by the US from Russia in 2001 totaled USD 33 million.
