In February 2003, the inflation rate in Russia was 1.6 percent against the previous month, and 4.1 percent against the beginning of the year, the Russian State Statistics Committee reported. Prices for foodstuffs gained 1.2 percent, for nonfoods - 0.9 percent, and for paid services to citizens - 4.2 percent this February.
In 16 regions and republics of Russia the increase in prices for goods and services overcame 2 percent last month. The most considerable growth of prices for goods and services was registered in the Krasnoyarsk region (7.8 percent), where prices and tariffs for paid services to citizens advanced 1.3 times.
