Surgutneftegaz posts oil production

In January-February 2003, oil production of the Surgutneftegaz oil and gas company gained 11 percent against the corresponding period of 2002, to 416,000 tons, the press service of the company reported. Gas production advanced 11.8 percent to 2.311 billion cubic meters.

The drilling volume reached 473,000 meters of rocks as compared to 440,000 meters in the corresponding period of 2002. This figure included 38,600 meters of exploration drilling in the reported period. At the same time, 138 new oil wells were put in operation in the first two months of 2003 against 132 wells in January-February 2002.
