Germany to Allocate EUR 6 Million to Chemical Weapons Destruction Plant in Gorny

Germany is planning to allocate EUR 6 million to the chemical weapons destruction plant in the Gorny settlement of the Saratov Region. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports this was announced by regional Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Sergei Lisovsky at a press conference on Monday March 3.

He said that discussions are going on as to whether the extra funds should be spent on increasing the plant's capacity or on construction of residential and social facilities.

According to the regional government information department, there are plans to spend about USD 5 million on constructing residential and social facilities at the plant. However the local government believes that these plans require at least twice as much money. Investment is most needed in sanitation for the residential area of the plant.
