On Saturday afternoon a two-engine L-410 aircraft with a group of parachute jumpers on board crashed in the Tver region (in the northwest of the Moscow region).
According to the information provided to the RIA Novosti correspondent in the State Civil Aviation Service of the Russian Ministry of Transport 2 crew members and 15 parachute jumpers were on board the aircraft.
According to the information provided by the Russian Ministry of emergencies, 25 people were on board.
According to more accurate data, as a result of the crash 9 people perished. 11 parachute jumpers managed to survive.
The Ministry of emergencies indicated that the fate of others was unknown.
The State Civil Aviation Service reported that, according to witnesses, the aircraft suddenly started to disintegrate in mid-air at the altitude of 500-600 meters and some of parachutists managed to leave the aircraft.
The aircraft fell down in the area of huge snow accumulation and rescuers with doctors are presently attempting to get through on foot to the accident site. The State Civil Aviation Service reported that transport vehicles were unable to overcome the heavily rugged country covered crusted snow.
L-410 aircraft is a light aviation aircraft.
