Moscow is on the threshold of a flu epidemic. Over the past week, the rate of flu-like infection diseases grew until it reached a level that just precedes an epidemic, reported the press service of the capital's State Sanitary Epidemiological Service. Between February 3rd and 9th, according to the press service, Moscow registered more than 109,000 cases of flu and acute respiratory viral infection. Of this number, 63,000 were children.
As compared to the previous week, the flu rate grew by 18.2%, reaching 1,273.1 people out of 100,000, which is 3.3% short of the calculated epidemiological barrier.
The flu rate increased in all age groups - by 20.2% among children and 15.8% among grown-ups.
