Some 352 kilograms of gold were produced in the Aldansky district, the main producer of gold in Yakutia, this January. The same volume is planned to be produced this February. On the whole in 2003 the gold production in this district is to amount to 7.5 tons.
According to Vostok-Media, Deputy Industry Minister of Yakutia Vladimir Fedorov declared at a recent Moscow conference devoted to the gold producing industry that the republic was planning to produce 18 tons of gold in 2003. These plans are in accordance with the republican program on developing the gold producing industry and exploring deposits of precious metals in 2002-2006. In the event of its successful implementation, in three years the gold output in Yakutia may increase by 8 tons.
