In January 2003, the AvtoVAZ carmaker produced 37,705 cars against 55,154 in January 2002, the press center of the company reported.
The press service pointed out that stores at distributors and dealers had been declining, while supplies continued. The trend of sales reviving has been preserved on the Russian automobile market at the beginning of February. Due to this, the restoration of the eight-hour shift, usual for the plant, is being currently prepared at all its departments.
Previously, a reduced working schedule was setup at AvtoVAZ till March 30, 2003. The schedule envisaged a five-day week with six-hour shifts.
