The Cabinet will consider the concept for the development of the natural gas market at a meeting to be held no earlier than on February 10 to 20, 2003, a source in the government reported to RBC. The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov. According to the source, the meeting was postponed because the Economic Development and Trade Ministry and Gazprom did not manage to coordinate this issue. He explained that the two agencies were so far from coming to an agreement that it was useless to raise this issue at a meeting with the Prime Minister.
According to earlier reports, the concept of the gas market's development was removed from the agenda of Cabinet meeting on December 26, 2002, and postponed, as documents prepared for the discussion were not coordinated by all interested ministries and agencies.
