Kamchatka is the scene of a large-scale Emergencies Ministry training exercise with the participation of representatives of its Far East Regional Center.
The press center of the Kamchatka Region Main Administration for Civil Defense and Emergencies announced on Wednesday that the exercise is being supervised by a commission headed by Lieutenant General Pavel Plat of the Far East Regional Center for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief, DVRTs, which has specially traveled to the peninsula in the Russian Far East.
Exercises designed to rehearse specific tasks based on scenarios supplied by DVRTs specialists began late on Tuesday.
The Kamchatka Region Main Administration for Civil Defense and Emergencies has been briefed to reach the area specified and deploy a mobile control unit to rehearse practical issues in the field.
Difficult weather conditions - heavy snow and wind - did not prevent emergency services from going into the operational mode by the time specified.
In assessing the performance of the Kamchatka Region Main Administration for Civil Defense and Emergencies' units at the initial stage, DVRTs specialists pointed out some failures, but added, "we are learning altogether so as to feel calm about Kamchatka." The exercise is continuing at the moment. The Main Administration for Civil Defense and Emergencies is operating on a high state of alert.
