As a result of yesterday's incident at a gas pipeline in North Ossetia, gas supplies to Armenia have been cut, Shushan Sardaryan, the press secretary of ArmRosgazprom, declared. At the same time, she did not specify a concrete volume of the currently supplied gas pointing out that "it is changing every hour". According to her, a shortage of gas supplies is offset by gas reserves. "We are doing everything to avoid fluctuations on the market", the press secretary stressed, the ARKA agency reported.
As reported earlier, on January 14 a gas pipeline from the North Caucasus to the South Caucasus was damaged in an incident and was shut off. At present gas is transported to Armenia via Georgia through a reserve gas pipeline. If the main pipeline is not repaired on January 15, gas supplies that go through Georgia to Armenia will be decreased, the Georgian Energy Ministry reported earlier.
