The Board of the Federal Energy Commission of Russia has approved a list of the most important investment projects of RAO UES of Russia for 2003. RUR8.99bn ($281.99m) will be allocated for investments in hydroelectric power plans. The largest such projects are the Bureyskaya and Irganayskaya hydroelectric power plants. The approved amount of investments in thermoelectric power plants is RUR3.73bn ($117m). The largest projects are the Kaliningradskaya and Sochinskaya thermoelectric power plants. RUR7.49bn ($234.94m) will be allocated for power grid construction, and RUR1.94bn ($60.85m) will be spent on the restoration of electrical power facilities in the Chechen Republic.
