The Bank of Russia is about to issue a three-ruble commemorative silver coin with the portrait of a Goat, the symbol of the year 2003. According to a source in the External and Public Relations Department of the Bank of Russia, up to 15,000 coins of this kind will be issued on January 4, 2003.
The coin is a 900 silver standard, with a silver content of 31.1 grams.
The right side of the coin is graced with the picture of a two-headed eagle with its wings downcast. The back shows a half moon and an embossed head of a Goat, one of the symbols of the Lunar Calendar.
The coin will be a legal means of payment in the Russian Federation.
