Russian Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin will head the newly-created government commission for optimizing budget expenditures. As the Government Information Department reported, Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov has signed a corresponding decree. Additionally, the Russian Economy Minister was appointed the deputy chairman of the commission.
The Finance and the Economy Ministries were assigned to introduce to the government drafted provisions of the commission and suggestions regarding its members, before January 10, 2003. Federal executive authorities and other receivers of federal budget resources are to provide information requested by the commission and to participate in its activities, if necessary.
