Gazprom official comments on Blue Stream pipeline

Gazprom is planning to supply 2bn cubic meters of gas through the Blue Stream gas pipeline (Russia-Turkey) in 2003. The gas holding is also planning to increase exports by 2bn cubic meters annually, Yury Komarov, the Deputy Chairman of Gazprom's Executive Board, declared at a briefing today. According to him, Gazprom will test supplies through the pipeline at the beginning of next year.

In the future Gazprom will also negotiate with Turkey on constructing a gas compressor station there. He noted that Turkey's demand for gas was pretty large, although it had been slightly overestimated by Gazprom. The Blue Stream pipeline's capacity is 16bn cubic meters of gas annually.
