An all-Russian seminar on human rights will take place at Vladimir Soroka Centre of the Novgorod University in the city of Novgorod-the-Great on December 10 and 11. According to the university's press centre, the seminar is organised by the Novgorod Interregional Institute of Social Sciences under the programme entitled 'Human Rights as the Moral and Legal Basis of Russia's Integration into Europe'.
The seminar will be attended by representatives of higher schools; human rights and public organisations of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novgorod-the-Great, Voronezh, Rostov, and Ryazan; and by the heads of Centres of Information of the Council of Europe. Considered among other things will be the correlation between Russia's laws and European standards. The event has been scheduled to begin on the date the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was accepted.
