Belarusian stake in Slavneft sold Operators were buying its securities, as they were confident that the company would also win a tender on selling the Russian government's stake in Slavneft. Belarus will receive the money on December 11 and the major part will be immediately transferred back to Russia. Gazprom demands to pay off $80m in debts for gas supplies by the end of 2002 (next year the republic will have to pay $153m). Gas supplies by Itera totaling 1.5bn cubic meters ($38 for every one thousand of cubic meters) will cost another $55m, the Kommersant newspaper reported.
