Russia is considering the possibility of constructing the second line of an oil pipeline within the framework of the Caspian Pipeline System, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Vladimir Stanev declared at a Russian energy summit today.
Speaking about the integration of the Druzhba and Adria oil pipelines he stressed that it was expedient to lay an oil pipeline from Adria to Central Europe to pump oil to West European markets. The deputy minister also noted that projects on constructing the Russia-China and the Baikal-Pacific Ocean pipelines did not contradict each other. The first project is aimed at entering local markets of the Asia Pacific region, the second at entering larger markets, including North American markets.
