UN Aid Workers Attacked in Afghanistan

Lakhdar Brahimi, the Senior UN envoy to Afghanistan, has launched an investigation after an attack on two UN aids workers in Afghanistan. The incident took place on Friday night 20 km. northwest of Kabul.

Mr. Brahimi’s office told journalists in Kabul that the UNO is “shocked” on hearing of the attack and urges the Afghani government to pursue the investigation and punish those responsible.

The two workers had to receive hospital treatment after they were kidnapped, beaten and threatened before being robbed by four armed men.
