Fishing vessel "Tulun" heads for Vladivostok

Last night, the Sakhalin fishing trawler Tulun entered Russian territorial waters and was met there by the capital anti-submarine ship Admiral Panteleyev of the Pacific Fleet.

At this moment, the capital ship is escorting the Tulun to Vladivostok for investigation, reported the press service of the Pacific Regional Department of the Russian Federal Border Guards.

The exact time of the Tulun's arrival is yet unclear because the Sea of Japan was stormy on Thursday and on Friday night and both ships were moving at a low speed, said the press service.

On Tuesday, November 19th, the Consulate General of South Korea passed on to the authorities of Vladivostok a report of the coast guard of Pusan that armed people had seized the transport refrigerator Tulun 30 miles east off the South Korean coast. Some time later, when the federal border guards managed to contact the Tulun's Captain Vladimir Chuprov, it turned out that the attempt to seize the vessel "had not been a terrorist attack." According to the captain's account, there had been no actual seizure because the ship had managed to steer away from the attacking vessel.

Operational headquarters set up by the State Fishing Committee issued an order that the Tulun be escorted to Vladivostok for investigation of the incident.
