Special Presidential Envoy comments on problems of Volga Federal District

The key task for 2002 is the division of power between federal and regionalauthorities, Russian Presidential Envoy to the Volga Federal DistrictSergey Kiriyenko said today at a press conference. The official was quotedas saying the problem of the next few years will be the division of powerbetween the regions of Russia and municipal authorities. The role of theregions of Russia from the viewpoint of investment climate consists inremoving economic barriers and creating single economic environment,Kiriyenko stressed. Over two years of its existence the Volga FederalDistrict has solved these problems, the Special Presidential Envoyreported. He also pointed out that in the district Tatarstan and Samarawere currently leading in terms of absolute macroeconomic performance,while in terms of the most dynamic growth rates Perm is the leader in thedistrict. .
