This year's dry summer in Moscow is the first over 100 years

Moscow has not seen such a dry summer over the last 100 years. "Such extreme weather conditions were registered in the summers of 1938 and 1972, but this year's droughts are much worse," Head of the Moscow and Moscow region Hydrometeorological bureau Alexey Lyakhov disclosed to journalists on Wednesday. According to him, the deficit of precipitation is estimated at 8bln cubic metres. "The norm of precipitation for the last 6 months was expected to amount to 350 millilitres instead of 150 millilitres," Lyakhov said. The deficit of water in Moscow region water reservoirs estimates at 1,5bln cubic meters, which makes only 60% of their full capacity.

According to weather forecasters, the weather conditions will not improve at the weekend - nights will be still, no rains are expected, while daytime temperature will rise to 24-27'C.
