Data on RAO UES expenditures for gas purchases released

In 2002, total expenditures of RAO UES for purchasing gas will amount to atleast RUR95bn (about $3.01bn) against RUR77.8bn (about $2.46bn) spent in2001, the mass media department of RAO UES reported to RBC. The averageyearly volume of gas consumed by power stations of RAO UES, amounts to135-140 billion cubic meters.The department pointed out that the launch of modern steam-to-gas powerstations providing a 20-percent fuel economy, would contribute to saving28-30 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
