VimpelCom reports rise in net profit in Q2

The net profit of VimpelCom, the second largest cellular operator on theRussian market, amounted to $21.941m in the second quarter of 2002, whichwas 133.1 percent more as compared to the corresponding period of 2001 whenthe net profit reached $9.414m, a source in the company reported. The netoperating revenues hit $173.381m in the second three months of this year,thus increasing 83.1 percent against the corresponding period in 2001(VimpelCom's net operating revenues were at $94.679m in the second half of2001). The company's EBITDA amounted to $71.757m in the second quarter, or100.1 percent more than in the corresponding period last year.
