The Cuban government declared on Friday that it is willing to help the US authorities in their investigations to find the best way to tackle the West Nile Virus, which has swept across the continent, killing 11 and contaminating a further 251 people.
The statement from the Cuban authorities reads, “ The Cuban government wants to offer to the US health authorities and other countries in our hemisphere all scientific aid in the investigation and efforts necessary to confront this danger to public health”.
There have been no cases of West Nile Fever registered in Cuba to date, but the authorities admit that this would be a strong possibility, given that the virus is transported by migrating birds.
