Former Enron executive Michael Kopper seems to get according to his deserts. The criminal charges were brought against a former Enron employee, which shows significant progress in the US government investigation into the scandal. Mr Kopper is to pay back $12m (ё7.9m) of assets. Also about $23m of funds controlled by the former Enron chief financial officer Andrew Fastow and other company executives will be frozen under the order of the US Justice Department. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also announced that it had filed civil charges against Mr Kopper. The SEC charged Mr Kopper with breaking securities anti-fraud laws. But Mr Kopper hasn’t admitted or denied the charges yet. Mr Kopper has agreed to handover $12m which will be used to help those who were defrauded by Enron. Mr Kopper could be facing a maximum jail sentence of up to 15 years for his crimes.
