The European Commission has adopted an amendment to its anti-dumping legislation with the aim of recognising Russia as a country with market economy. The European Commission took this decision on Monday evening in Brussels.
As the office of the European Commission in Russia reported, this decision followed the statement made by Chairman of the European Commission Romano Prodi at the latest EU-Russia summit in May.
In autumn this proposal is expected to be approved by the Council of Europe, points out the press release.
After that, the package of the amendments will come into force of the law of the European Union, and the EU will thus become the first trade power granting Russia this status, underscored the European Commission.
