Putin calls for aid for the countries hit by the floods
President Vladimir Putin has instructed the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations to provide aid for the flood-stricken countries of Central Europe, as the worst floods in 200 years have devastated the region.
Sergei Shoigu, minister for Emergency Situations, confirmed on Sunday that the aid would arrive on Tuesday morning. Water pumps are being sent to Germany and a mobile laboratory to determine the stability of buildings is being sent from Krasnodar, where it proved highly successful during the recent flooding in Russia.
Experts from Moscow’s metro system will arrive in Prague during the week to support the Prague Metro, parts of which were destroyed after the Vltava River burst its banks.
