The reconstruction of Moscow's Sheremetyevo-2 airport will start in October2002, airport's General Director Sergey Belyayev announced at a meetingwith journalists in St. Petersburg. The cost of the reconstruction isestimated at $30m. The director noted that the halls of the airport wouldbe reconstructed and an automated customs control system would bedeveloped. This would allow for an increase in the airport's capacity by20-25 percent over the next two or three years. As a result, Sheremetyevo-2will be able to meet demands of the increasing passenger traffic before theSheremetyevo-3 terminal is constructed..
