The future of a $400,000 expansion of the Boddington gold mine in Western Australia remains in doubt. That is despite South African group Anglo gold showing increased interest in developing the mine this week.
Already a multi-million ounce gold project in its past life, the Boddington development is expected to produce nearly 700,000 ounces annually when it comes online.
That would make it the third biggest gold mine in Australia, behind only Kalgoorlie's Super Pit and the future Telfer mine in the north-west.
Boddington is 120 kilometres south-east of Perth.
The world's biggest gold company, Newmont Mining, has hinted it might sell its stake. ©
