Sibneft, a Russian oil company, finished drilling the first well at the West-Ozero gas deposit located in the Chukot Autonomous Area of Russia, the company's press service reported. This is the first gas deposit that that company tapped. The project is being implemented according to the corporation's plans aimed at boosting a gas component of its business. The company will supply gas to the Anadyr Steam Power Plant through a 104 km-long pipeline that has been recently constructed. The gas volume of the West-Ozero deposit is estimated at around 6bn cubic meters, while the annual gas output will be 120m cubic meters at this deposit. The company is planning to drill four additional wells before the end of this year.
The total volume of proved gas reserves at Sibneft's deposits that were audited by Miller&Lents, was 40.8bn cubic meters at the beginning of this year, while the volume of probable and possible gas reserves is estimated at 28.1bn cubic meters. "Sibneft is currently considering a number of gas production projects, and gas can be transported from deposits both through a pipeline system and in liquidized state", Sibneft President Yevgeny Shvidler said.
