Moscow Says Illegal Crossing of Armed Chechens from Russia into Georgia Must Be Investigated Jointly

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has sent a note to Georgia suggesting a joint investigation of the August 3 illegal crossing of armed militants from Chechnya into Georgia. According to the press service of Russia's Foreign Ministry, the note also emphasises the importance of the speedy extradition of these Russia's citizens detained in Georgia.

A group of 7 armed Chechen militants was detained by Georgia's border guards on August 3. Some of the detainees were wounded. These people may have been returning to Georgia after a large group of armed terrorists had been dispersed by Russian border guards while trying to infiltrate from Georgia.
