Slovakia said potential bidders for a minority stake and management control in Slovenske Elekrarne AS, the country's dominant power producer, have until Aug. 12 to express interest.
Potential strategic investors have until Aug. 12 to express interest in taking part in the tender for between 46.14 percent and 49 percent of the company. The delaine for non-binding bids would probably be Sept. 26, it said in a published advertisement.
The sale is the last step in the government's effort to upgrade the energy industry, raise money to repay debts and finance measures to strengthen the economy. Earlier this year, Electricite de France, Germany's E.ON AG and RWE AG bought 49 percent stakes in the country's three regional electricity distributors.
The government said in the advertisement investors would be free to choose whether to bid for a stake in the whole company or to limit bids to either the company's non-nuclear or nuclear assets. The company operates the country's two nuclear plants.
