Russia, Ukraine to discuss mutual trade restrictions

Representatives of the Russian Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy will discuss the recent increase in Ukrainian import taxes on Russian cars in Moscow on Friday. These taxes were increased to 31.7 per cent since July 30.

The Russian side considers this step groundless and contradicting to the agreement on free trade between the two countries.

In addition, the Russian Economic Development and Trade Ministry received several appeals from Russian producers, pointing to the fact that the production of cars in Ukraine is being subsidised. If the facts of subsidy are proved, the Russian side can restrict the import of Ukrainian cars in Russia, the ministry said.
