Increase in car production expected in Russia

According to forecasts of the Russian Industry and Science Ministry, 1.3m motor vehicles will be produced in this country in 2002, which would be 50,000 more than in 2001, Deputy Minister of Industry and Science Sergey Mitin announced at a press conference today. In particular, the production of cars will reach 1.03 million against 1.022 million produced in 2001. According to the concept for the development of the domestic car industry until 2010, the production of cars will see a 1.7-fold increase by 2005 against 2002. In addition, the Deputy Minister reported that they would introduce a plan for implementing the car industry's development concept to the government in December 2002.
