In his interview to RIA Novosti Said Selim-Peshkhoyev, head of the Chechen Department of the Russian Ministry of Interior stated that the Ministry of Interior of the Chechen republic would be organized by the end of the year. According to him, the strength of the officers of the Ministry would be brought to 10,000 people. At the same time he stressed that the Chechen militia selection process was very tough. The attestation commission is selecting and checking candidates, in particular, from the point of view of being involved in illegal armed formations. In addition to that, among major criteria are absence of previous convictions, intellectual capacities, professional and physical training. Peshkhoyev indicated that Chechen militiamen were dispatched for probation to Russian cities to raise the level of their skills. On top of that, own militia school was established under the Ministry of Interior where new recruits were undergoing professional training.
Peshkhoyev pointed out that there were quite a number of applicants wishing to serve in militia, especially in its special services. He stated that one of the main problems of the Chechen militia was security of its officers who were pursued by bandits everywhere. According to him, 180 officers were killed just since the beginning of the year.
