The international St. Petersburg - Iberoamerica: Business Partnership 2002 forum opens today in the city's Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The forum is taking place on the initiative of the city's Committee for External Relations and will last for two days. The event's main aim is to widen economic and scientific links between St. Petersburg and Spain, Portugal and Latin-American countries.
The forum's participants will include representatives of the business and financial circles of St. Petersburg, Moscow and the North-West Federal District, and entrepreneurs from Spain, Portugal and Latin-American states. The programme includes a plenary session, bilateral business meetings, and also a visit to the Russian Industrialist - 2002 exhibition in the Lenexpo exhibition centre.
The forum is taking place with the support of the city's Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the St. Petersburg Iberoamerican Centre. Publicity support is being provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Committee for Promoting Economic Cooperation with Latin-American Countries, and the Latin American Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
