Official sales of Ford Focus cars assembled at the Ford Motor Company plant in the Leningrad Region will begin on October 3, according to a statement made to journalists today by Henrik Nensen, Ford's president for Russia and the CIS. According to Nensen, around 400 cars have so far been assembled at the factory, which are earmarked to be sold through the Ford Motor network of dealerships. Nensen also announced that 4000 Ford Focus cars in a variety of specifications are to be assembled by the end of the year.
Leningrad Regional Governor Valery Serdyukov today visited the plant and drove the first car, which the regional government is expected to acquire, off the conveyor belt. The Leningrad Region and Ford have a framework agreement according to which the region will buy 40 cars.
