Oil companies operating in Russia have enough potential to back up Russia-US energy dialogue. As the press release of the Itera oil company, obtained by RIA Novosti, reads, Igor Makarov, President of the company, said about this while meeting US congressmen in the USA.
Itera points out that Russia-US energy dialogue, begun by the presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and George W. Bush, during the Moscow summit held last May, opens up new possibilities to facilitate mutually advantageous cooperation between Russian and US energy companies. The press service noted that this was a prelude to the Washington meeting between Makarov and US congressmen.
Igor Makarov revealed to the participants in the meeting the company's perspective projects in Russia, other CIS countries and Baltic States, as well as in the US, South African countries and other world's countries. Having expressed interest in attracting investments and advanced American technologies to the Russian market, Itera's President invited US businessmen to take part in the projects the company is implementing in Russia and other CIS countries.
Makarov also told the congressmen the plans to implement the programme of cooperation with the US Freedoms Foundation, the main objective of which is to contribute to the spread of democratic values in various parts of the world, the press release reads. As part of this programme, it is planned to send a group of Russian students to the Foundation's youth camp located in Pennsylvania to be jointly trained with American young people of their age. The implementation of the programme is scheduled for early 2003, Itera reports.
