On October 3, in Arkhangelsk, the 10th 2 day-long meeting of the Council of the Barents Euro-Arctic Region (BEAR) will begin. According to the press service of the Arkhangelsk regional administration, the development of Solovki with its famous monastery will be among the discussed issues.
The foreign delegations supposed to take part in the meeting are expected to arrive in Arkhangelsk tonight. Tomorrow morning, an agreement for cooperation between the Arkhangelsk region and the Norwegian province of Troms will be signed. The programme of the jubilee meeting also includes an exhibition on the various kinds of international cooperation the Arkhangelsk Region is engaged in.
Invited to attend the jubilee meeting as guests of honour have been Anatoly Potapov, a Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia; Alexei Obukhov, a Special Envoy of the Foreign Ministry of Russia; Nils Petter Pedersen, the head of the Department of Social Security of the town of Vadse, Norway; and Swein Tonnesen, the head of the administration of the Gamvik Commune of Norway.
