Russia-Produced Ford Focus Officially Goes on Market

The Ford Motor company announced today that the Ford Focus cars that have been produced at the factory in the Vsevolozhsk district of the Leningrad region are now available for purchase. The company's Russian press department said that the cars will be available from a network of official car dealers across Russia.

To increase sales of the Ford Focus the company has devised a credit policy whereby purchasers of the cars pay 50% of the car price immediately and the remaining 50% over the next 30 months.

The Ford Motor factory in Vsevolozhsk opened in June 2002. The potential output of the factory is 25000 cars a year. Investments in the Ford Motor company in Russia now total USD 150 million. The Ford Focus is produced in three different models - sedan, hatchback and universal. The Ford Motor company is hoping to sell 7500 cars (including 4000 Russian Ford Focus models) by the end of 2002. The estimated number of sales for 2005 is 23700 cars.
