Ceasefire in Ivory Coast

The Economic Community of West African States has begun its mediation in the conflict-torn Ivory Coast, hostilities having ceased while the two sides sit down for talks.

The ECWAS spokesperson declared that both sides have agree to the ceasefire and that talks will begin next week between a government delegation and a representative group from the rebels, who hold parts of the north of the country.
