The weighted average dollar exchange rate was at RUR 31.68 in the first half of the morning trading session today. In other words, it remained unchanged as compared to the previous closing. The US currency rate remains unchanged on the Russian currency market for the third day in a row, starting on Friday, October 4. Analysts explained that today's situation on the currency market was probably due to a reduction in the balances of correspondent accounts at Russian commercial banks and, as a result, a slight increase in ruble credit rates. The balances of correspondent accounts dropped by 1.6bn rubles (about $51m) in Moscow and the Moscow region today. As a result, one-day ruble credit rates went up to about 8 percent today while they did not surpass 5 percent yesterday.
