On October 12 a two-day European forum of non-governmental organisations opens in Kaliningrad (the center of the eponymous region in the Baltics). The administration of this Russian enclave region reports that the forum Kaliningrad 2002: Prospects for Russia-EU Cooperation in the Baltic will be housed in the Kaliningrad State University.
Representatives of the Russian parliament, non-governmental organisations of Russia and foreign countries, the regional administration and the legislative assembly will attend the forum.
Speakers will be Dmitry Rogozin, special representative of the Russian president at the negotiations with the European Union on the problem of Kaliningrad, Merya Hanus, general secretary of the Finland-Russia society, Stanislav Navrot, president of the Poland-East cooperation association.
At this forum, thematic sittings on the visa regime, economy and the place of the Kaliningrad region in the Baltic region will be held.
