President Putin signs decree On Publishing Big Russian Encyclopaedia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree On the Publication of the Big Russian Encyclopaedia. The Russian presidential press service reports that the document emphasises in part "the state significance of publishing the Big Russian Encyclopaedia." With a view to timely publishing the encyclopaedia, the head of state ordered to appoint Academician Yury Osipov, the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, chairman of the scientific editorial board. Within a month, the chairman of the scientific editorial board should approve the regulation on the scientific editorial board and its members stipulating the scientific, methodological and organisational supervision of the work to prepare the Big Russian Encyclopaedia for publication as a primary goal.

The President of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the scientific editorial board have been instructed to ensure a highly precise quality of the publication. Yury Osipov will also systematically inform Vladimir Putin of the progress in preparing the Big Russian Encyclopaedia for publication.

The federal bodies of power have been recommended to take part in preparing the Big Russian Encyclopaedia for publication.
