Natural Resources Ministry to check industrial enterprises

The Natural Resources Ministry is planning to examine the activity of enterprises of the metal and energy industries in 2003, Alexander Povolotsky, Deputy Natural Resources Minister told journalists at a press conference in Moscow today. According to him, these plants pollute the environment and violate legislation on environmental protection; in particular, they do not have cleaning facilities. The Deputy Minister specified that the Ministry would be examining enterprises with the police, because "working practices show that participation of law enforcement agencies during such examinations is very effective".
